Hello,

I think I have found the marriage record for an ancestor William Teahen and his wife Mary Hanrahan who seem to have been married in this parish. 

William says he was living in Ardreigh at the time of his marriage on Sept 25, 1828, however I do not find that Parish on this website.

I am hoping there will be someone with information that can help me with more information. 

William and Mary had 5 children, Ally (born 1829) , John (born 1830) , Michael (born 1833) , Mary (born 1835) and Ellen (born 1837), all baptized in Johnstown Parish, address listed as Donoughmore. 

The family moved to Ontario, Canada sometime before 1851. Ally and Mary do not seem to have come to Canada, so they may have died before this.

    Again, apologies for the delay in replying.

    I see that Roger has answered your questions about the townland/parish issue.

    The couple were married in the RC Church at Urlingford. You can see the digitised original record here:

    The link below takes you to the current RC church in Urlingford built in 1832. There is no indication where the earlier church was, though it may have been on or near the location of the current church as is often the case or in the adjoining old graveyard).     It was (and often still is today) the case that the couple couple marry in the home parish of the bride but in many cases it was the parish too of the groom as there wasn't as much travel from county to county at that time. I searched under a variety of spelling of Teehan in the Griffith's Valuation without luck for a William, though the family were probably gone at that point.
