Looking for information about a Hines family from Co. Laois. Here is the information that I have:

John Hines, b. 31 Aug 1811

Emigration: about 1835, ended up in New Brunswick, Canada

Married Mary Mackey (Co. Mayo) in 1842 in Nelson, New Brunswick, Canada and had a total of 8 children with her: Mary E., Edward, Thomas J., William, John O., Julia Agnes, Catherine, and James Francis (my ancestor).

Moved to Wisconsin in the late 1840s and to Martin County, Minnesota in the 1870s.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • As you record is before Irish Civil Registration (1864) there will be no birth Certificate.

    You would need Parish records.

John left before the 1901 census, but he mad have had family with the same name, 1901 census has several John Hynes

    www.familysearch.org

has several John Hynes, but you again, would need more information.

  • If you have uploaded your DNA raw data to Gedmatch then kit no T256176 may show as a match as her great-grandmother was Jane Hynes / Hines / Hiney / and Houghney--------that family were from Raheen parish near Mountrath Co Laois and are now known as Hiney----------------Jane Hiney was a daughter of Richard Hiney and Julia McEvoy and she married Pat Carroll in 1844
