Looking to find out more information about the parents of Thomas Gallagher (born 1827), who married Anne Cullen in 1849 in Manorhamilton in Cloonclare Parish. Marriage bans indicated that Thomas' address was Cloonclare and Anne's address was Ballaghameehan (where is Ballaghameehan?).
On Thomas' death record in Ohio in 1897, his father was listed as James Gallagher and his mother as unknown. It appears that James and Thomas were living in Faughary in Killasnet Parish if I am to believe this is actually them in the Griffiths Valuation in the 1850s. My proof as it were is a DNA match to someone with an ancestor named Lazarus Cullen. This Lazarus Cullen was living in Faughary in 1834 as was this James Gallagher. What I can't seem to reconcile is that three of Thomas' children were baptised in Cloonclare Parish. Is it possible that Thomas could have lived in Faughary but had his children baptized in Manorhamilton? The children baptized in Cloonclare were James Gallagher 1849, Michael in 1853, and Anna in 1856.

According to Google Maps, Faughary is 4.2 Kilometers from Manorhamilton so it is possible that he lived in Faughary and went to church in Manorhamilton.
I looked at the Tithe listings for Co. Leitrim and there was a James Gallagher in Faughary in 1834.

Records for Cloonclare RC parish do not start until 1841 so no record of Thomas' baptism would be available
I could find no record of a Ballaghameehan townland or a Ballymeehan townland in Co. Leitrim. Two possibilities, first the name of the area may have been unofficial and never was made an official townland or the townland was actually Ballaghnabehy which is in Killasnet parish.

Thanks Roger. I appreciate it. I also couldn't find Ballaghameehan. When I Google the town, I get a St. Aidan's Church which is said to be at Ballaghameehan. On a map it appears to be a couple of km away from Faughary in the other direction from Manorhamilton. Are you familiar with the area? Could that be correct? The church is on the Ballagh river.

The church is located in Gubnageer townland in Rossinver civil parish which is the northernmost parish in Leitrim. Google Maps says that Gubnageer and St. Aidans are 9.8 kilometers north of Manorhamilton. Here is a link to the church. http://www.kilmorediocese.ie/diocese/parishes/17-ballaghameehan
