Does anyone know what happened to the farm owned by William C Hunt b1869 d 1956 in Clooncumber (Cloone Parish) in Leitrim? He lived there per the 1911 census with his wife Susan (nee Thompson b1879) but had no children as at1911?

Perhaps they had children and Hunts still own the farm today? My interest is to obtain a photograph of the farm if possible since this is where my Great Great Granddad Francis Thompson (b1841 d 1902) lived.

  • Paul - Clooncumber was once part of 'Gortletteragh parish' ..a colleague of mine suggested putting an ad in the Leitrim Observer (editor@leitrimobserver.ie) for more information or contacting the Land Evaluation Office in Dublin (http://www.valoff.ie/research.htm) to see who might own the farm now.  Our local Genealogy office at www.leitrimroots.com provides a searchable database for all births deaths marriages in Leitrim which may aid you in your search for additional Hunt family members.  You could suggest to the Leitrim Observer to put your request under the local Gortletteragh and Cloone notes and hopefully you will get some help from the locals in those parishes.

Do let me know how you get on ..if I come across any other info thay may help you I will forward on to your email.

    Kind regards,
