Looking for Mary Kelly who was born in Askeaton about 1832. Her father was Michael Kelly and mother Margaret Reardon. Mary went to Australia as part of the Lord Gray Orphan Scheme, travelling on the ship "Maria" which arrived at Port Jackson in 1850.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Askeaton RC records start in 1829. I searched on Roots Ireland and did not find a record for Mary's baptism. There was an 1830 Mary Kelly in Askeaton with father Michael but the mother was Bridget Walsh. Maybe your Mary was born before 1829. I also did not find any other children in Askeaton with parents Michael Kelly and Margaret Reardon.

On July 8th, the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. Askeaton is in the Diocese of Limerick. I would review the register for your Mary in case her record was missed by Roots.
