I'm interested in finding information on my 2x Great Grandfater, John James Fitzgerald.  He was baptized 11 Aug 1850, in Ballybricken, Limerick to James Fitzgerald and Bridget Hayes, residence Knockroe.  The baptizm took place in a Catholic church, Ballybricken/Bohermore, Limerick.  Diocese--Cashel and Emly.  He was known to our family as James.  James immigrated to the US in 1867 or 68--unfortunately, I've found both dates on US Census forms.

James and Bridget also have a second son, Denis Fitzgerald, baptized in the same church 9 Aug 1855.

I've found what I think is the correct couple (James and Bridget)  marrying in Fedamore, Limerick in Nov 1845.  The church record was written in Latin and the ink from previous page is bleeding through, so difficult to tell.

I've not been able to find any other information.  I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked at the November 10th 1845 marriage record and I think it pertains to your ancestors. Fedmore parish was right nex door to Ballybricken. I also looked on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found an 1817 baptismal record for a Bridget Hayes in Fedamore. This record shows a mother with the surname Cusack and one of the witnesses of the marriage was a Cusack. Maybe a coincidence or it is the correct record.?

  • Thank you Roger!

I was very excited to receive your message.

The information you have shared will be of great help.

It makes sense Bridget's second child would be named Denis, after her father.

Am I right in thinking the sponor's names Ptk would be Patrick and Bgt would be Bridget?

Thank you again for your help.
