John Connell and Lizzie Sweeney were married in Cappamore 24th January 1891,

Civil cert Listing John Connel as grooms father. Labourer, unknown if living or deceased .

I'm stuck with the head of household's mother/Lodger Ellen Dynan?. Can't track Head of households parents down at all, his mother/lodger being the first I would like to manage.Civil Wedding John Connell & Lizzie Sweeney

  • This is a tricky one Frank!

The only Limerick birth/baptism recod for Ellen on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site) is this one: Name: Ellen Dinan Date of Birth: Date of Baptism: 28-Nov-1826 Address: Parish/District: ST. MUNCHIN'S Gender: Female County Co. Limerick Denomination: Roman Catholic Father: Patrick Dinan Mother: Bridget Lonrigan The age is a bit off but that's not unusual.

I couldn't find a birth record for a John Connell with mother Ellen Dinan around 1865 in Limerick except this one (the only 1 in Caherconlish):

John Connell Date of Birth: Date of Baptism: 08-Apr-1858 Address: ? Parish/District: CAHERCONLISH Gender: Unknown County Co. Limerick Denomination: Roman Catholic Father: Patrick Connell Mother: Ellen Slattery Occupation: Sponsor 1 / Informant 1: Ml O'Brien Sponsor 2 / Informant 2: Jane Slattery

Have a look at the site Bygone suggested.

  • Since Ellen is shown as a widow, with a different surname to her son, I would suspect that she married at least twice and both John's father, and the unknown Mr. Dynan are deceased ... so maybe her marriages might be the avenue of research to try and follow up..

Her second marriage may be indexed under both her true maiden name, and her previous married name which can sometimes help.

  • I tried the doulbe wedding, Got an Ellen Counehan married to a Patrick Dinan in Bulgaden in 1881,

but as Ellen would have been 50 if the census is someway correct, even at 40 this couple had 10 children between 1882-1897.  (roots)

There is also a marriage John Connell to Ellen Coonaghan 1860 in Glin, but I cannot find any childen fro this. (roots)

I have not found any death for an Ellen Dynan\Dinan between 1901-1921.
