I'm looking for addtional informationabout my great great grandparents Michael Davern & Mary Noonan Davern. I don't know the names of either of their parents or any of their siblings names. Michael Davern married Mary Noonan  Febuary 1861 in the Ballylanders Roman Catholic Church. Mary's approximate year of  birth is 1838 and Michael's approximate year of birth in 1836. County Limerick is the only information for place of birth, for both of them, that I know. Neither Michael or Mary left Ireland, as far as I know they both died in Ireland. Michael & Mary had the following children.

Michael Davern born 1862

Mary Davern 1864-1864

Timothy Davern 1866 -1934  Came to America

Margaret Davern 1868 -1937 ( my great grandmother ) Stayed in Ireland

  • My great great grandmother, Mary Long was baptised in the Catholic church in Ballylanders in 1862, and her Godmother is listed as Hon Davern. There seem to be a lot if Daverns in Ballylanders, but Hon Davern might be related to your Mary Davern, and they would be about the same age. Where in America did your Daverns settle?

I see that you are also resesrching O'Deas. Can you tell me something about that branch of your family? Where are they from, and what names do yoy have? It's a long shot, but I might have a connection.

  • Suzy:

I can't help with the parents of Michael and Mary but I did locate the 1901 and 1911 census records for them and their death index records. Michael died in 1910 and Mary in 1912. If you want to get copies of the death records, you can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie You need to fill out their form, provide the year of death, registration district (Mitchelstown) and the volume and page numbers ( 4 and 425 (Michael) and 4 and 437 (Mary))). They cost 4 euros each.
