Looking for Sheehy's still living in Ireland who are descendants of Patrick Sheehy, b 1807 (in Limerick I believe), d 1847 in in Limerick, Garrane, Mahoonagh Parish. He was married to Mary Duane.

Patrick Sheehy was my Great Great Grandfather. I know he and Mary had at least four children: John Patrick (my Great Grandfather born in Limereick and died in Nebraska USA), Tom, and at least two other children).   

Patrick had a brother that I know of, Roger. I do not have a lot of information on Roger, but I know he had at least 5 children; John R, Edward Joseph, Cornelius, Mary, and Johanna.

There was an Ellen Sheehy who married a Jeremiah Mulland in 1867 in Mahoonagh parish.  Patrick Sheehy is listed as her father, but I do not know if that would be the same Patrick as my GG Grandfather.

I would very much be interested in learning about Patrick's ancestors.

I am also planning on visiting Ireland in a few short weeks (specifically the Castlemahon area), and would  appreciate any suggestions on what to do and see.

    There was a Sheehy family in Garrane in the 1901. John and Johanna Sheehy were unmarried brother and sister and based on your note could have been children of Roger. They also had a married sister Ellen Kiely.

    Sorry for the delinquent reply, but yes, Roger had 5 children of which I am aware:  John, Edward, Cornelius, Mary, and Johanna.

    So that gives me some confidence that Parick (my GG Grandfather) was indeed from the Garrane area.

    Are their decendants still living in that area?

    I did not see any likely records in the online Irish phone book but just like the US  only a small percentage of phone users are in the book.

    I recon Pat might have been my Great Great Great Grandfather. The birth and death dates and location seem to match.

    As you said, his daughter Ellen  married Jeremiah Mullane. Drop me an email if you wish!
