Thomas Frawley (b. 1821 Rathkeale d. 1896 Town of Vermont, WI) and Honora Hogan Frawley (b. 1826 Rathkeale d. 1884 Town of Vermont, WI).  They immigrated to Troy, New York around 1849 and moved to Wisconsin between 1850 and 1854.  First to Janesville, WI and then they help founded the Town of Vermont, WI.  There, Thomas farmed and raised cattle and Honora bore 9 children.  First born, Michael Stephen Frawley is my husband's great-grandfather.  Michael moved to Eau Claire, WI and married Katherine Coyne, her father being Bartholomew Coyne also of Ireland, probably Sligo.  

Thomas Frawley's parents were Thomas Frawley and Mary Fitzgerald and Honora's parents were Michael Hogan and Elizabeth Burke.  My husband and our kids are all tested at 23andme and our son is tested at FTDNA, 67 marker Y test.  23andme classifies their Y as R1b1b2a1a2f, but FTDNA shows it is R-L226 or Irish III.  

I'm looking to extend the family tree further back than Thomas and Honora and see if our Frawley clan is still in Rathkeale.

    There is a record of the marriage of Michael Hogan & Elizabeth Burke in 1822 Tipperary on www.rootsireland.ie/

    There is no record of the marriage of Thomas & Mary though

    You might like to check the Tithe Applotments (1823-37) which are free to search online

    There are 31 Frawleys in Limerick including 3 in Rathkeale in 1825

    I searched for Thomas jnr & siblings births but there were no baptism/birth records for any children of Thomas & Mary However when I searched without Mary's surname included as mother's surname I got 13 matches in Limerick - but no Thomas!!

    There are 95 birth/baptism records of Mary Fitzgerald born 1825 + - 5 years in Limerick!

  • Thank you.  I saved some Irish genealogy websites in my bookmarks last night and will try the Tithe Applotments (1823-37).  I've found my Irish lineage to be very challenging in terms of genealogy, especially in Ireland.  I'm hoping some Irish relatives will DNA test and we can make some matches that way.
