I am looking for relatives of my 3 x great grandmother Catherine Hayes, born 1800, Limerick, to Patrick & Mary Hayes. Catherine married James Connors in Ballyhahill 1821 & had 2 daughters, Alice born 1822, & Mary born 1824, both in Limerick. Not sure when they all emigrated to Australia but Alice possibly came in 1850 to Sth Australia, & married Michael Madigan. Mary married John Frawley, (born Ardagh Limerick about 1822), in Bendigo Victoria 1856. John's parents were ?John/James Frawley & Mary Fitzgerald. Sadly Catherine was drowned in an accident near Bendigo 1857. I have no knowledge of James Connors, if he came to Australia.

I would love to hear from anyone who is related or has more information for me going back further in Ireland.

Many thanks

Margaret

  • Hi Margaret

There are 2 marriage records of Patrick Hayes and Mary ..... 1790 + - 10 years in Limerick on www.rootsireland.ie/ One is 1793 and the other 1800

Ballyhahill is not in the list of parishes at the end of the records however

You need to purchase credit to view the full record which will have the parish & maybe the parents' names - some do/ some don't

  • there are no records for the period you are searching,

the Shanagolden records only began in 1824.

look up on line Shanagolden List of Sources,

it will show All the parishes in co limerick

    & when the records began.

    regards

    John.

  • Thank you John. I think it's going to be  difficult to get too far back. Will try the parishes as you suggest.

I guess my best chance is being able to contact family descendants who know their  history.

    Regards
