We are trying to locate anyone who may have information on the above marriage or burial information. My great, great, great grandfather Patrick died October 12, 1859 at Cooleshill/Richfort, on Ardagh Road. We are visiting on this coming May and would like to confirm any information on the above, including family burial information.

Thank you,

Patrick Hanley

  • Greetings Patrick

While I can't help directly with your enquiry I wondered if there is a connection.  My ancestor Thomas Devine married Ann Hanley whose father was Patrick Hanley. Ann was born in Cashel, Longford 23-12-1806.  According to Griffith Valuation Thomas had a lease over a block of land in Carrowbeg, Rathcline, Longford.

    Thanks

Links to online baptismal, marriage and burial records & 1901/1911 Census records re - Hanley family of Cooleeshil or Richfort Townland, Ardagh & Moydow RC Parish, County Longford:

    https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632362#page/108/mode/1up

Marriage record: 11 June 1797, Patrick Hanley & Eliza Belford

I see Patrick Hanley recorded at Cooleeshil or Richfort Townland in my book containing an index to Griffith's Primary Valuation of County Longford in 1854.

    https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632363#page/61/mode/1up

Death record: 12 October 1859, Patrick Hanley, old man, Cooleeshil (or Richfort)

Marriage record: 19 May 1850, Robert Hanley & - Hughes

Robert Hanley's first son was named Patrick Hanley, probably after his paternal grandfather as was usual at that time.

    https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632363#page/16/mode/1up

Baptism record, 27 October 1852, Patrick, son of Robert Hanley & Mary Hughes

Robert Hanley could have been Patrick Hanley & Elizabeth Belford's son as he was also recorded at Cooleeshil or Richfort Townland at the time of the 1901 and 1911 Census records, see below.
