I have Shaw ancestors who lived in Grillagh and Ballynakill Townlands in Killashee in 1744 through until the 1860s.  I am interested in any information others may have and would like to trace the family back further if possible.  Henry Shaw's dates are 1744 - 1824, his son Robert 1790 - 1870, his son Henry 1824 - 1868 and his son Robert 1856 - 1901.  Robert went to Australia as a boy.

  • Hi There

I have this tree very detailed as far back as Henry 1744 unfortunately I cant get back any further as parish records dont exist beyond this time frame, Many of your relatives have taken the ancestry DNA test, have you family in Perth Melbourne and Sydney, Australia as I have spoken to people who no doubt are also connected to you over the past 10 -15 years.

    Kind Regards,

    Laura

  • Thank you for your message.

My connection to the Shaw family is as a descendent of Robert who came to Melbourne and was my great grandfather.  I live in country Victoria and my sister in Melbourne and I have been tracing the family tree and have a blank 100 years or so back from 1744.  We have come across a relative in Canada who has found connections back to the highland Shaws in Scotland, but there is still that gap between them and Henry.  Let me know if you would like more information about the scottish history, I could give you the connection to the Canadian researcher.

    Many thanks,  Pamela

  • Greetings Laura,

I understand you have been in contact with the Canadian researcher and supplied the photo of the Shaw crest which we found through him.  If you wish more information about my branch of the Shaw family I would be happy to receive an email from you:   nultyp@exemail.com.au

    Best wishes,  Pamela

  • hi! im trying to find information on a george shaw who is listed as the father to a anne shaw around 1850 when she married my 4x great grandfather samuel belford. he was in the 42 regiment black watch and then the two came to canada in 1851. they married in newtownforbes, longford, Ireland and the parish is listed as clongesh. i found a land record for george and it has a william leaving nearby but i have not been able to confirm any other shaw family. I have tested on ancestry (my mom- Lisa Doerr) and 23and me (dezirae marks) please let me know if I might match with any of you or if you have a possible george or anne in your tree. Thank you
