I found records for my grandfather and his family in Killoe parish. My great grandfather appears to have died very young. The 1901 and 1911 census show different spellings (Smith vs. Smyth), but the family retained Smith in the US. I believe my great grandmother was an O'Reilly from Longford but can't find any other information. I would love to find out more information about my grandfather's family since we never knew any of them.

  • I'm also looking for O'Reilly from Longford.  My GGGF Robert Reilly married Catherine O'Kelly around 1848. I've not been able to find their parents or birth information. My GGF was baptized in Jan1850 in Newtown Forbes.  Then came John (1952) and Mary Ann (1854) at St Mary's.  I haven't been able to find birth records for Robert or Catherine believed born 1859 and 1862.  The last three I've found: Elizabeth (1864), Margaret (1871) and Jane whose last name in the records is spelled Rielly in 1874.  I believe their mother, Kate, died after the birth of Jane.  It appears all the children but Mary Ann and Jane emigrated to the US and were here by 1880.  Robert, Kate, Robert Jr, and Margaret are living in NY in 1880.  James was also in NY and married to my GGM Ellen McDowell.  John's location in 1880 is unknown but he dies in NYC in 1924.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.  Not sure how I can find out the names of Robert and Catherine Kelly O'Reillly's parents since I haven't found a marriage certficate for them.

    Thanks!
