In searching the Templemichael parish registers I notice that in a death record for a woman, it gives two surnames, one as an alias. For example: Elenora Murphy alias Murdagh, Dunbeggin. Would Murphy be her married name or her maiden name?
I also saw a location in the death records list Derryharra, which I understand is a townland in County Longford. I have not been able to find this location on a map in Longford. Is there another name for this location? Is there a way to match townlands to current locations?

'Derryharra' is probably a reference to the townland of Derryharrow, which is in Templemichael Civil parish and loctaed a short distance north of Longford town - see Placename database.

From my experience, the married name is usually given with the alias being the maiden name
'Alias' seems to be an older version of the more modern 'nee'
