I am a 5th generation Australian, born Aug 30th 1942 but am tracing my 80% Irish heritage. My mother's grandmother was Rose Anne Malone, born Ardee Co Louth c 1852 to Stephen Malone, a builder and Mary Sharkey(?). Rose Anne emigrated, first to New Zealand, we think, then to Victoria, Australia about 1881, where she married Thomas Flynn. Their daughter, Johanna Mary Flynn, was my maternal grandmother. She married Edward James Cleary. My mother was born Kathleen Mary Cleary. I am endeavouring to find out about the Malones, as well as the Clearys (from Mullingar), the Collins from Abbeyfeale (Cork?), the Maguires from Enniskillen, Flynns (from I don't know where) and Reagans (?). I am on my wife Margaret's account as we both use the same e-mail address and I can not register separately, apparently. Any information would be appreciated, Sincerely, Geoffrey J Pyne

  • Geoffrey,

If you go to www.rootsireland.ie you will find the baptismal record for Rose anne in Ardee, co. Louth in 1851.

You would need to pay to view this record but it would be about €5.  Hopefully this will yield their parents names or addresses.

As you will appreciate there are many many families of Clearys, Collins , Maguires and Flynns, so we wont be able to doa anything there for you until we have a firstname, surname and approximate date range.  We would really need much more information than provided.

It was marvellous to have Rose Anne's parents names as that ensures that you have the correct person.

    Hope this helps a little,

    Anne Dennehy
