  • Hi Sandra, I could not find a marriage in Louth but it is difficult to search without a year to start,  have you a year range, assume it is a Catholic marriage etc.

  • Hi Sandra, there is a James Treanor born in 1830 in Cooley Parish, address Grange, this is fairly close to Lordship, mother is Anne Killen, Father is alos James, witnesses were Eileen Killen and Matthew Long, baptism 18 Aug 1830.

I see the marriage now, under Jas which is not coming back under James, no new info except witnesses John Trainor and Mary Ann McDermott.

I see six children including two Elizabeth so assume the first one died. Post 1864 all civil registrations for births are free online. The births are as follows Patrick Joseph 15th June 1865; Richard 17th May 1867; Elizabeth 15th March 1861 also 1857; James Joseph 01 Feb 1874 and Simon 17th April 1869. You can see the civil records here https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Click civil and sign in, relevent church records are no on the site.

These two sites may interest you: https://www.carlingfordpeople.ie/ and also http://www.jbhall.clahs.ie/

Of course you are aware that the area is all excitement just now as US President Elect Joe Biden has ancestry on his maternal side from there, you can Google his tree online and it is open to see.

    Good Luck

  • Hi Sandra,

I hope you and Pat don't mind me adding to your query.  I have spent a few minutes looking at some info.  Here's a summary:

Many Trainors listed in Jenkinstown Townland and also in adjacent Ballymakellet Townland.  Both are in the Catholic Parish of Lordship.  Church records only started in early 1830s.  It's probable that James was born in Jenkinstown.  There are several variations on the spelling of the name: Trainor, Traynor and Treanor.  Family details are in census returns.
    1901 Census data:  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001045199/
    1911 Census data:  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002936826/
Unmarried children listed in both census returns.:  John, Mary Ann, Peter & James Joseph.
A further daughter, Elizabeth Trainor (Treanor) married Daniel McParland, Tullyah. Loughgilly, County Armagh in Ravensdale RC Church on 11 Jan 1887.
James Treanor died on 19 June 1901. Age was recorded as 80 years.  Death was reported by son, Peter Treanor.
Bridget Trainor died on 21 Mar 1913.  Aged was recorded as 75 years.  Death was reported by grandson, Joseph McParland.
The nearest cemetery to Jenkinstown is Ravensdale Graveyard.  It didn't open until the early 1930s.  Before this some people were buried in Faughart (very old).  I also see other Trainors in Newtown Cemetery.  Both of these are in adjacent Catholic parishes.

Trainor in Old Faughart Graveyard:  https://www.carlingfordpeople.ie/graveyards/faughart-old/page15
Treanors in Newtown Cemetery, Mount Bagnall (Near Riverstown):  https://www.carlingfordpeople.ie/graveyards/newtown-cemetery/page15

I can't find a Simon Trainor born to James & Bridget.  I do see a Simon born to Thomas Treanor & Annie Jordan, Jenkinstown, 13 Sep 1883.  Also Simon born to James and Mary Treanor, Jenkinstown, 8 Nov 1890.  I've checked both the Civil Birth and Church Baptismal registers.

I grew up in the parish myself, but have lived in Galway for many years.

    Regards

    Gerry
