  • Could this be him possibly? Family search doesn't pull any returns for McGinn but it may be a possible transcription error.

www.rootsirealnd.ie shows 3 results for an Edward Mcginn born in 1910 in Tyrone but none matching with a father named Richard.

  • do you have any other information we can look for like siblings names? Mother's name?

This is the only Edward McGinn in the entire county in 1911.

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Omagh_Urban/Der…

This does not match the information you provided for father's name or parish, but does match the age nicely.

  • I can find no matches to any of the names you have provided. This is a real mystery...

They should exist as registerations started in 1864 for BMDs

  • The parents of the Edward Alphonsus McGinn are Charles M. McGinn and Sarah Doherty and they married in April - June 1899. Charles' father was James. I believe his mother was Mary McCullough but I am uncertain it is a match.

Where did you recieve the information on your great grands parents and great great grandparents' names? Is it possible what you were told is incorrect?

  • Notice You only need an uncertified copy which will contain all the same information you are looking for. Unless you are going to apply for dual citizenship, for which you likely do not need apply, as you already are a citizen of the United Kingdom. There is a possibility with this information you may be able to apply for dual citizenship for the Republic of Ireland but I am not sure of this. What I do know is, if you have a parent or grandparent born in Ireland you can apply for dual citizenship. I do not know if this includes the entire Island as Northern Ireland is considered part of the UK and Repulic is not. This is a question I would like to have the answer to because my grandfather was born in Beragh.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other help.
