trying to confirm that my gg grandmother mary CURRAN Moyles did in fact come from parish of termonfeckin.  I believe i have found her baptism in june of 1824.  Her parents were Peter Curren and Mary Pentony Curran.

Mary Curran married Patrick Moyles sometime in 1845 and their first born child ( adaughter) was born at sea on their trip from Liverpool to New York City aboard the Ship United Kingdom.  They arrived on July 14, 1846

I have found both of their obituaries, which state that they were both born in County Louth.

Many thanks!

  • Mr gg grandfather, Patrick Moyles was born in 1819 and his obit. also states that he was born in County Louth --- but not the parish.  His father was Edward Moyles and his mother was Mary Coonelly(spelling found on his death certificate.

Patrick Moyles died in March of 1901 and Mary Curran Moyles died in December 1901.

  • Hi Colleen,

Patrick Moyles does not turn up in Irish Parish records but all the Moyles action seems to center on Drogheda, Co. Louth.

There is a death record for an Edward Moyles born 1783 died 1867 Drogheda, there is also a death record 1895 for a

Joseph born 1825 Drogheda, Joseph is a possible sibling to your Patrick.

  • Many thanks Brendan for responding!  Your info is very interesting and seems to be similar to some of what I have been able to locate from on-line records.  I located a baptism for an Edward Moyles,  on March 29, 1795.  This record shows Ardee Parish, Ardee District, Roman Catholic.  This record also indicates his father was "Joseph" Moyles and his mother listed as Mary Carroll.  Could these similar names just be a coincidence?  The birth date on your info is off from what I found, so maybe there were more Moyles than I first thought.  Am going to also post to Ardee perhaps.

Each step along the way gets more any more exciting and I do want to thank you for taking the time to respond!!
