Some of Andrew Harmon's children came to Liverpool around 1870 with a few of them settling in Waine Street, St.Helens, Lancashire.

I am one of their many descendants and I'm wondering if there are still any Harmon/Harman/Hardman family members still in Termonfeckin today.

Thank you for reading my message.

  • Hi Olga

the Harmon name is not too unusual in the Drogheda area. According to McLysaghts Irish Family names it is often used for Hardman as is Harman. On one site Harman is used for Drogheda and Louth although he claims Harmon is the Louth variant.

There is a site for Termonfeckin with the areas births etc on it. See http://www.termonfeckinhistory.ie/

The site also has a message board and contact details.

There is also a Louth site with lots of info here http://www.jbhall.freeservers.com/

The land survey done in 1853/54 is here and there are 52 Harmans with an Andrew in Termonfeckin, this site also gives a little location map. See http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ The area Port is now CLogherhead and a few miles from Termonfeckin.

There are two subscription sites at http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/ and at http://www.rootsireland.ie/

Also the Irish phone book gives addresses and there is one Harmon in Termonfeckin and under business the default setting there are two nearby. See http://www.rootsireland.ie/

    Hope this is some help.

    Happy Hunting

  • Hi Olga

thanks for your reply at this point most would not have bothered. Since you asked initially there is a small bit more, the Irish Government have put the civil records up for free from 1864 for RC and 1845 for CoI marriages, recently they added images of the actual record so you can get more info from the register, the site is free but you have to sign in and prove you are not a robot, can get great info if you find it. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/

Select civil records as church records are only for Dublin, Kerrry and some of Cork.

    All the best,

    Pat

  • Just happened upon the request for information on the family of Harmon in and about Termenfeckin/ Dragheda area of Co. Louth.  I too am looking for the ancestry of Harmon, Patrick, b. about 1856 who emigrated to New York
City, and also, I believe his father to be James and possibly, Kate, his mother.  I think that possibly they too came from the Termenfeckin area.  This would be in my hustband's ancestry, his mother's maiden name being Harmon, born in NYC.  If you have any information of their connection to your family, I would appreciate receiving it.  Thank you.  Mary McDonnell

I am also looking for Andrus (Andrew) Hardman (Harmon/Harmen) info on children as a descendant.

I’ve been doing quite a lot of extensive research so happy to see if aligned?
