I am looking for the ancestors, descendants, or relatives of Thomas BOYLAN born 1778 in Banktown, Ireland, & died 1832.  The information below came from notes my grandfather collected from parish records in the 1970’s in Ireland.

Thomas married Bridget FARRELL about 1806 & we think they were the parents of at least 6 children:

  1. James BOYLAN (My ancestor) 1807 in Banktown - February 1869 Buried in Termonfeckin cemetery.  James married Mary WHITE (1811 - March 30, 1855) on June 22, 1832 in Termonfeckin chapel. Witnesses were Kate GARVEY & John BOYLAN.
  2. Alice BOYLAN – About 1811 - March 17, 1811 in County Louth.
  3. Thomas BOYLAN - September 28, 1820  in County Louth - July 11, 1852 County Louth.  Monasterboice Parish baptism Thomas BOYLAN, son of Thomas BOYLAN and Bridget FARRELL.  Godparents = Nicholas BOYLAN and Mary CARPENTER.  Family of Baltray.
  4. Christy BOYLAN - February 01, 1822 in County Louth. Godfather = Bartholomew McGUIRK
  5. John BOYLAN - February 24, 1824 in County Louth. Godparents = Patrick OWENS and Mary (unreadable)
  6. Patrick BOYLAN - May 18, 1827 in County Louth.  Godparents = Catherine & Mathew (?) OWENS.

There is quite a big age gap between child 2 & 3, so I am not sure if Bridget was a 2nd wife & the 1st two children had a different mother, or if they are all children of the same couple.

There is a gravestone, possibly in Termonfeckin cemetery that reads: “Erected by Jas. Boylan of Banktown in memory of his beloved wife Mary Boylan who died the 3 March 1855 age (?) and his brother Thomas Boylan who died 11 July 1852. Also his sister Alle Boylan, who died 17 Mar 1811 age 28 (?).  Here also lie the remains of the above named James Boylan who departed this life on the __ Feb 1869  age __
