Hello, I am trying to find out the origin of my great-great grandfather James J Moran. He was born about 1843 in May and then moved to Dunmore PA in about 1865. He was married to Sarah Jane McHale but I do not know if they were married in Ireland or the USA. There is a Richard Moran from Dunmore that was born in doon Aghagower in march 1841 and his parents were Martin Moran and Mary (don't know her last name). I'm wondering if Richard and James were brothers and if so would there be record of James' birth in your parish.

thanks very much

Victoria Moran O'Connell

  • Richard Moran from Aghagower to Dunmore is my family because he married a great grand aunt of mine, Anne Butler.  She was a widow at the time.  Yes his parents were Martin and Mary.  I couldn't tell you if he had any brothers I am sorry.

  • The kind folks at the Clew Bay History Centre provided me these details - could these be my John Moran and Bridget Brogan Moran? Wondering if there are any other records for these two in Aughagower?
