  • Hi Tom,

Ballina Town is actually part of the parish of Kilmoremoy:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=1777&civilparish=Kilmoremoy&citycounty=Mayo

A useful website when it comes to Irish place names is http://www.irish-place-names.com/

I suggest that you join the Kilmoremoy parish page and post your message there. Hopefully then, once we get volunteers activated in the parish they will be able to help you. Here is a link to the parish page:

Thanks for your message (and for helping other users with their queries also, it is really appreciated!)

    Kind regards,

  • Emma!

Thanks for your reply and suggestion.  I will try posting on Kilmoremoy-Mayo parish page for connection to descendants of Patrick Thomas MALONE (abt 1877).

Patrick T's family is one of the last remaining branches of (my great grand uncle) Patrick J. MALONE  of Ballina, Co. Mayo lines via 3 wives(including DILLON-MALONE) who I have not yet finished tracing. Got tremendous help from unofficial Ballina town historian PJ Clarke when I visited there in 2010.  As result, I have successfully found Dillon-Malone cousins in Dublin and US that I never knew existed.   Coincidentally, I am also aware of the new Clarke museum that has opened in Ballina, Co. Mayo that has a treasure trove of Irish history memorabilia once collected by another man named Clarke.

Might try Findagrave to see if the Ballinvoy MALONE's were buried in another nearby cemetery other than Aughagower.

Hope I will have more info. on above when I visit Ireland again for a "Gathering" in Castlebar of O'Connor-Connor-Malone kin connected to Michael O'Connor in September, 2013.

    Slan,

    Tom Malone
