I seek records for the family of Patrick Carty(McCarty) who was born in the Crossboyne Parish area about 1800 and emigrated first to Oldham England around 1848-49, and thence to Nashua New Hampshire USA in 1866.His father was Martin Carty. Patrick died in Nashua in 1874. He had three sons born in Ballindine, John c. 1836, Thomas c. 1837, and Patrick, 1841. His daughters Jane b.c 1830, Sarah c. 1832, and Mary c. 1838 went to Oldham, but did not leave England with their father. Eventiually, Jane and Mary emigrated and married in the US, but Sarah married Henry Hargreaves and stayed in Oldham until she was widowed. Then she joined the family in Nashua.

Patrick's wife and the mother of his children was Rose Keeley b.c. 1797. She went to England with her family, but died there in 1857. Patrick married a second time in 1863, Deborah Murphy from Oldham, originally from Ireland, place unknown. Rose Keeley had a brother, Anthony  who emigrated to Oldham and thence to Nashua.

Since the church records of Ballindine start so late, I have been unable to find any siblings or relations to this family who might have descendants elsewhere in the world. Only local family knowledge will help. When this parish gets organized, I hope someone will respond. I requested information about the Keeleys in the area from what used to be the Irish Family History outfit, one in each county. They sent a whole raft of information about Kellys, a totally different family. Then they defended their mistake by saying it was the same name. Of course, they kept my money.

  • Hi

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

A site you might try - if you haven't already is:

    https://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseaction=surnam…

The site can also be very  useful if you would like to BROWSE information regarding County Mayo records & availability -

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. For example - what other information do you have regarding Rose..? Are you sure she was also from Mayo..? The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.

Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Kind regards,
