Hello,

I'm trying to find more information (e.g., siblings, birth dates, parents, etc.) about Michael O'Boyle, who is my wife's great-grandfather.  One record says he was born (or lived) in Deel Bridge, Crossmolina, County Mayo.  I just found a Griffith's Valuation repoort that shows that a Michael, Patrick, and Francis O'Boyle were all leasing land from Sir Roger Palmer in Lackalustraun. When I search the map for that location, Deel Bridge is smack in the middle.

Two of Michael's children were named Francis and Patrick, but I'm wondering if the ones listed here are maybe Michael's brothers!   (The son Francis is my wife's grandfather)   Also, a "Pat" O'Boyle was a witness to Michael's marriage in 1870, so a brother (or father) 'Patrick' makes sense!

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions!!

  • Ken,

The RC parish records for Crossmolina (which includes Lackalustraun townland) are on-line free on the National Library site:

    http://registers.nli.ie/parishes

Here’s the occupants of that townland in 1901, 3 O’Boyle households:

Hi, I have some information about the O'Boyles. My great-grandmother was Celia O'Boyle Hopkins from Lack and when she married she moved to Dooleeg. I have visited Lack House, which I a told is where she is from and was the first 2 story house in the area. I would be glad to share what I know.
