I have been trying to research my Egan family tree and have been mainly using ancestry.com to track my findings..although I have never really been happy with the functionality and features of their site. Recently, I came across an app on my ipod for "MyHeritage.com" and tried inputting some of my family tree to see how the layout would look there. Since it didn't seem drastically different in that area, I deleted the app and forgot about it. Today I received an email saying the information I had input had matched with several people on the tree of a My Heritage member named Mary Connolly (identified only as living in Ireland). I was shocked and thrilled (I have found NO one else online with common family members in a year of searching). However, when I went to the My Heritage site, I learned I would have to pay an annual fee of at least $75 to simply look at Ms. Connolly's tree or even just send her a message with my contact information. I am writing here in the hopes that anyone knows more about My Heritage than I....and would perhaps offer to act as a messenger to let Ms. Connolly know wish to communicate (without paying My Heritage to be the middle man)? I know it is a shot-in-the-dark, and quite odd request....but I thought it was still worth a try. Thank you so much to anyone who even takes the time to read this, and especially to anyone who can help.

I wonder if you have had a look on other genealogy forums - people usually join a few in the search for answers on their ancestors. I have often come across posters here who are also on Rootsweb for example.

I have a MyHeritage account so I could contact Mary Connolly for you but I will need to know what ancestor on myheritage she has a matching profile for as there are many people with the name Mary Connolly on MH. Also www.geni.com is owned by MyHeritage and they have matching profiles, you can look on Geni for free all you need to do is sign up with an email address. Geni profiles also show up in a Google search if you enter the name of an ancestor

Thank you so much again for replying. You have truly become a genealogy fairy godmother to me! Always so kind and so helpful. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it. The amount of progress I am making (after a long time with nothing) is shocking and so exciting!I had never heard of geni.com before....so I will definately pursue that and see if I can find her there. In the meanwhile, the information they show me about her on myheritage.com is the following:
- 2 family member matches (Patrick Egan and Mary (Gibbons) Egan
- My Heritage Member : Mary Connolly (appears with a crown and Irish flag next to her name). In her profile window it says "50's" (her age?) and that she is the owner of the "Connolly Web Site" and "Connolly Family Tree". She has 2, 859 people in the tree and it was last updated on October 7, 2014 (as of today).According to the MyHeritage match system...the matches are 75% and 80% good....so I'm hopeful. However I can't see any more information than what I've shared with you....so I hope I'm not wasting your time. If it is a good match, it would be thrilling.
