Ancestry gives his spouse as Margret Lyons.  Looking for names of other family members, and, especially dates of baptisms.  Ancestry lists parish as "Ardbraccan and Cortown, Bohermeen".  Thank you for any information.  Howard Keech

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on Roots Ireland from 1833-1847 and did not find any Byrne children of Patrick Byrne and Margret Lyons. I'm wondering if Bohermeen was Margret's parish and then they lived where Pat was from and any children were baptized in a different church. I looked at the nearby parishes. Dunderry to the south has records starting in 1837. Navan to the east has a gap in baptismal records from 1813-September 1842. If they lived in Navan parish and the children were born from 1833-1842 that may explain the absence of records. Do you have names of their children and approximate years of birth?

Here is a link to the online parish register for Bohermeen http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0900  You may want to doublecheck to see if there are any baptismal records.

  • Hi Roger,  When James Byrnes (Byrnes spelling) died at Wellsville, New York, USA in 1893, death records gave his age (years, months, days) from which I calculate his birth as 9 Feb 1836 -- baptism would be some later of course.  His parents were listed as Patrick and Margret.  His family were firm Roman Catholic.  I suspect, from the naming proceedure for his children, that his grandfather was Andrew. Thank you again for your advice.  Howard Keech (hkeech@magma.ca)
