Christopher HALPIN was born in Randalstown in 1807 ans baptised in the Catholic Church in Oristown 10 May 1807.
He would have married Annie MONAGHAN in the 1830s.
In Griffiths Valuation he is leasing 37 acres from Mathias EVERARD.
I believe his father is John HALPIN who is shown in the Tithe Applotment Book 1834 in Randalstown, Donaghpatrick Parish, County Meath.
My great grandmother Bridget HALPIN who was born in 1848 came out to New Zealand in 1866 and was married in 1872. When she was married it was reported in the local newspaper that she was the 3rd daughter of Christopher HALPIN. It is possible the older daughters are Mary HALPIN (1838 - 1915) who never married and in the 1901 and 1911 census is living in Brews Hill, Navan; and Jane HALPIN (1841 - 1900) who may have married Peter KEALY (1822-1899) in 1869 as the property leased by Christopher HALPIN was later in the name of Thomas HALPIN (a son?) and eventually taken over by a Peter KEELY.
Peter KEALY Junior who married Elizabeth LEONARD in 1901 are listed in the 1901 and 1911 census as living in Randalstown possibly the same property as mentioned above.
Would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of these families.
I am planning to visit Navan this coming September.

In the meantime, did you know that civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any birth, deaths, marriages that occurred after this year will be recorded in these civil records. this may be helpful when trying to determine/confirm what became of those who remained in Ireland. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
