Bridget's parents were Thomas and Mary (Halpin/Halfpenny) Davis who married in Ratoath, Kells May 11, 1819. Bridget was baptized in Kells January 18, 1823. She had 4 siblings: Ann 1821-, Alice 1825-, Ann 1837-, Thomas 1838. Bridget married Patrick Farrelly in Kells February 22, 1846.The couple had a son James December 1846. They then departed for Troy, New York in 1851 or 1852 with their 2nd son Nicholas leaving James behind. Was hoping to find more information about Thomas Davis, Mary Halpin and their other children.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and located a July 31 1847 marriage at the Kells RC church between Alice Davis and Michael Smyth. I did not locate a marriage record for Ann Davis or Thomas Davis.

The 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows a Thomas Davis living on Farrell St. in Kells.

The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has a death index record for a 92 year old Thomas Davis who died in the Kells area in 1868. Hopefully in the near future the site will have the actual images of the death records for deaths from 1864-1870.

  • Thank you for your time, research and resource suggestions. The 1922 destruction of the Public Records Office is a tremendous handicap for me, as I know it is for many other researchers.
