Hi my name is Virginia.

My father's name was Alexander Smith ( nickname sandy) his father's name was also Alexander Smith (sandy) Alexander Smith Senior married an Annie Partland and lived at Bellaney Cross where Annie's mother also lived (we believe her mother was also called Anne Partland) who we think was married to a John Partland.

We are looking to find Anne Partland Senior's maiden name before she married John Partland as we are trying to find a headstone for her/ her family plot.

We know that Annie Smith jnr nee Partland married my grandfather Alexander Smith Snr who came from Scotland and had my father Alex Smith, John Smith and Anna Smith.

We know that Annie Smith nee Partland is buried in Moylagh but we cannot locate a headstone for her.... so we are looking to find her mother's maiden name to see if perhaps Anne Smith Is buried there.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we have been searching a very long time.

Thanking you,

Virginia Smith.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I found a civil birth record for a sister to Anne Smith. Her name was Catherine. If this is the correct record then Anne Partland Sr. was a Murtagh. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1884/02689/1990625.pdf

  • Mr McDonnell, thank you so much for sending on this information- it's definitely a step in the right direction for us, unfortunately zero luck on place of burial under the name Murtagh.

If you ever happen across any other information, we would be delighted to receive it.

Cannot thank you enough for your help.
