I am researching my family tree and know that my great (x4) grandparents came from Navan.  They were Francis McKenna and Mary Fitzpatrick and were married in St Mary's Parish Church, Navan.

They had four children - Peter, baptised in 1795, Patrick in 1802, Thomas in 1805 and Anne in 1809.  Peter moved to Carlisle, England after marrying Margaret Logan  - about 1845 as their first son was born there in 1846.

I have been trying to locate the other three siblings and visited Navan last year but had no luck finding them.  There was a Patrick McKenna who was at school in Navan in 1821 but I don't know for certain if this is the same person.

The other siblings may have moved away, as Peter did or may have remained in Ireland and I wondered if anyone had been researching their own family history and encountered their names.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

    Hi Ada,

Thank you for your message. I hope that someone who has been researching these same lines makes a connection with you and can shed some light on what happened to Peter?s siblings.

Have you tried looking up the names in Griffith?s Valuation? This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland between 1848 and 1864. Although it does not give any genealogical information, if you can find any of the siblings in it (and depending on how many results are returned for your search) it may give you a starting point for your research. You can search these here:

    http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

Also have you tired looking for them at https://familysearch.org/ ? This is a huge database of genealogical records that have been complied by the Church of the Latter Day saints. Perhaps you may be lucky and find a marriage/death record or even a baptismal record where they are listed as parents.

You could also do a search of http://www.rootsireland.ie/, however please be aware that this is a paying website.

I hope that these suggestions are helpful. Best of luck with your research!
