Thomas O'Bryan marrid Mary Duffy in 1847 in Ratoath.  They emigrated to the United States and settled in Corning, Stueben, New York.  His siblings used the O'Brien spelling though Thomas changed his to O'Bryan.  His brother John stayed in Ireland.  Though years later some of John's children came to settle in Corning, NY.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Do you know if John's wife was Catherine White? There are eight children born to a John Brien and Catherine White and baptized in Ratoath parish. Here is a civil birth record for their son Edward.

  • Yes, it was I have traced them some, Their son Edward was among 4 of the children that came to Corning, NY in about 1891.  He moved west and I lost him.    I believe John's parents (as well as my Thomas's) were Pat Brien and Elizabeth Mooney or Murray but I haven't been able to get any further on them.  My Thomas b:1824 Ratoath married Mary Duffy and I believe her parents were Frank Duffy and Margaret Newman.

There is a Frank Duffy and a Margaret Irwine as well and I wonder if she was the same person as my Margaret Newman.
