Hello Trim,

Margaret Cavanagh (Kavanagh) born 1770-1780 was tried in Trim, Meath in 1800. Sentenced to 7 years and transported to NSW on "Hercules". She married William Regan, they had 3 children and remained in NSW until her death in Goulburn in 1853. I would appreciate any information from your end.

  • Hi Treasa,

Thank you for your message. I hope that someone recognises the family and makes a connection with you.

In the meantime, it may be an idea to check local newspaper archives if possible to see if you can find any articles relating to Margaret?s trial. Hopefully you may be able to narrow down a parish of origin for Margaret this way which may open up some more avenues of research for you. You could contact Meath County Library?s Local Studies Department to see what they have available:

There are also some available online here:

Alternatively you could try contacting the National Library of Ireland to see what they have available:

Remember to post any new information that you find here. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Kind regards,

    Genealogy Support
