My great grandfather Paul Regan was a native of Trim in Meath born to Mathew Regan and Bridget Gowran in 1851. He migrated to Australia in 1879 on the "La Hogue" from London. His sponsor was Pat Stanley, his brother in law. His siblings appear to be James b1833 (migrated to Australia), Elizabeth b1834 (migrated to Australia), John b1838 (migrated to Australia), Thomas b1841, Catherine b1846 (died young), Mathew b1847 (migrated to Australia) and Bridget b1855 (migrated to Australia).

Mathew and Bridget appear to have married on 16 July 1832 as I have found a listing in the Catholic parish marriages and banns for a Bridget Goman Event Type: Marriage Event Date: 16 Jul 1832 Spouse's Name: Matt Regan Parish: Trim Diocese: Meath County: Meath First Witness: Patt Baily Second Witness: May Brun.

I would like to find out about both Mathew Regans parents and family and his wife Bridget Gowrans parents and family if anyone can be of assistance. Also am trying to find out what happened to Thomas Regan b1841.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Have you tried using www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie to see if you can find any baptism for Bridget and Matthew? I take it their marriage record didn?t include mothers? names but should include their fathers?.

In relation to Thomas, you could also try using those sites to see if he married. While generally people married in the parish of the bride, we could assume until finding information to the contrary that if he did marry, it would have taken place in Co. Meath. It would be a way of ruling out that avenue too if you find nothing to go on. I see Griffith's Valuation (1847-1864) lists a Matthew in Trim parish:

Let us know how you progress
