I am looking for information on Thomas Drope (b1773) Dernamoyle Co. Monaghan and his family.  Children Robert, David Thomas, William John, Sarah Jane, Letitia, Jane and Eliza.  The family migrated to Canada in 1824-5.  The birth mother is unknown, but there was a second wife believed to have been named Margaret.

Thomas, according to lore had a brother, Captain Robert Drope who was killed at the Battle of Waterloo in 1813.

The family seemingly has a connection to the Coyles of Cootehill.

The above named children married into the Cuffe, Coyle, Fisher, Foster, Bryans Rothwell and MacLachlen families.

Any information would be most helpful.

  • Hello - Perhaps we are related? I am a direct descendant of Thomas Drope (b1773) Dernamoyle Co. Monaghan and would love to find any information you may have on him and his family.

I have traced my grandfather as far back as Thomas Drope, who I understand came to Canada in 1841.

Related families: Rothwell, Dench (Ontario, CA), McMahon

    Sincerest appreciation
