My grandmother was born in Middlesbrough England. Elizabeth McCaffrey 1881

Her father was from Monaghan (we think) or Fermanagh. John McCaffrey 1843c he married Elizabeth Moules  Wicklow

They were married in Wigton area of Cumbria England 18 Sept 1866. There was McQuillan as a  witness.

Johns father was Patrick McCaffrey 1814c  who married Alicia McGuire 1844c Clones

That is all we think we know.

If it rings a bell with anyone out there I would love to know..

Thank You

  • Thank You.

    John remains the Mystery.

It would seem his father and mother (Alice) Alicia) Married in 1844. His birth we believe was 1843. Perhaps she had John in another part of Ireland

I am on a DNA site but only one match to a McCaffrey from Fermanagh but no luck there yet.

Thank you for all the time you spent trying to help me.

  • John,

Just because the baptismal records are not available for your "John", they were available for his siblings, so you have no reason to become despondent with your research.  Focus on what you have to work with, ie., the siblings.

    Wishing you well,

    Maggie McKenna, Carrickmacross
