I am trying to trace my father's family who I believe came from Monaghan. My greatgrandarents were Patrick Reilly and Catherine Gormley. I have managed to trace my grandfather Patrick Reilly born abt 1874 who died in Glasgow in 1945. He had two sisters I know of (perhaps there are more); Elizabeth (Lizzie) born abt 1877 and Agnes born abt 1886. Lizzie married a john Smith in Glasgow in 1898 but had two sons born in Ireland; Thomas (Smith) born abt 1900 and John (Smith) born abt 1902. According to Lizzie's marriage certificate her father Patrick (farm labourer) was deceased before 1898 but her mother Catherine (nee Gormley) was still alive. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Hi Anne, I have been asked to look at old queries and you have gold medal position, since you posted Irish Civil records for everyone are available si
nce 1864, start year, click on the civil tab and sign in but it is free, you will have to search by registration district or the entire country but you will see quickly which ones cover Monaghan, church reocrds on the site do not cover Monaghan. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Sign in and off you go.
