I am a descendant of Thomas Hyland, who was born Jan 1, 1760 in Clonsast, Offaly Co Kings Co, Ireland.  His wife was a McCann, but I have no other information about her.

His daughter, Elizabeth married Patrick Henry Sullivan, of Queens County, on May 6, 1824.  The marriage took place at Clonsast,  Clonbullough, Ireland.

The year following their marriage, they immigrated to New York State, United States.

I am looking for any family who is still in Ireland.

  • Hi Kathleen

There are 6 Hylands in Offaly in the Irish phone book (www.118.ie/). We are not permitted to post people's personal details on the site but you might want to drop them a note if you don't get any responses.

I couldn't find the marriage of Thomas Hyland to a McCann I'm afraid.

Sites you might find helpful (if you haven't tried them already) are the Tithe Appotments, Irish Censuses & Griffiths Valuation.

It may show where the Hylands were after 1760.
