  • Thank you Roger that was very helpful. Our family has a history in Rahan, Eglish and Tullamore. Thomas Carroll had 2 brothers James Peter and John. Their father (John #2310)  joined the British Army (when and where?) and was killed in india on Jan.21 1846. On Feb.15, 1849, Peter and John were placed at The Royal Hibernian Military school as it was reported their mother Sally had died. Peter (sometimes Michael) went on to enlist (#1515)  be a survivor in The Charge of the Light Brigade, marry and  have children. His daughter Florence was my great grandmother. My grandfather Harry Eames emigrated to Ontario, Canada as a young man. Amazing !!!

We are still looking for any more information and wonder if Sally was a victim of the famine. Any other leads are appreciated.

    Thanks again.
