Hello,

Due to the wonderful array of information that is now available on  the Internet I have recently discovered that my maternal great great grandparents were married in 1857 in Ballynakill.

They were Anne Dermody and Thomas Tuohey. They emigrated to America in the early 1880's with several children, but my great grandmother, Kate Tuohey and her sister Ellen, went, or were sent, to New Zealand in 1879........not quite sure why, as they were very young, only 15 and17 respectively.

The witnesses to Anne and Thomas' wedding were a Frank Gorman and a Norah Dermody..

Does anyone have any connection with any of these names?

Yours in anticipation,

Anne Sheehan

  • Dear Anne

We do not have a volunteer in that parish as yet, but I have passed your query to a volunteer in a neighbouring parish.  I hope they will be in touch soon.

    Best wishes
