Looking for anyone with connections to a bridget manning born approx 1902 in Roscommon and who possibly committed suicide.

She was Married to joseph Carolan (born approx 1890). They had a daughter called Teresa born approx 1946 (my mum) sons called tommy (died approx 1975) and christie (living in australia) and quite possible other children but the history is vague and Im at the start of my search.

Teresa Carolan was sent to a convent in Mayo or Sligo when her mum died, possibly st Josephs convent in mayo.

I have found several bridget manning's in my search (mainly from dublin parish) and have a death record of a bridget manning in kentstown churchyard in meath who died on 09/02/1957 and am now looking into that to see if this is my gran.

Any help whould be fab

thanks

  • I certainly have some Carolan's within my husband's family history. I think one married either a Halpin or perhaps a Finnegan. I will search the files and get back to you.

  • Hi'  I've just started researching my gt, grandmother, Mary-Anne Carolan who comes from Finglas, Dublin.  I have her marriage certificate of when she married Thomas Clarke of Dublin.  They married 8th May 1864 in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Finglas.  Mary-Anne's father was called Thadeus and his occupation is given as 'Gentleman'.  They were both given of 'full age' when they married which I'm assuming is over the age of 21 years., which would mean Mary-Ann was born in the 1840's.  She and Thomas eventually settled in Stockton on Tees, County Durham, England in the 1870's and died there - Thomas in 1915 and Mary-Anne in 1920.  They had six sons of which their eldest, James Thomas, who was born in London in 1868, was my grandfather.

If there are any Carolan family in Ireland who could help me in my quest I would be extremely grateful.

    Regards
