Hi,

I'll be visititing Ireland in September and I would love to walk in my ancester's footsteps.

I'm looking for info on my great-great grandparents John Glancy & Catherine "Kate" O'Gara married in Carrick-on-Shannon, Kiltopghert RC Parish on June 29, 1879.   John & Kate emigrated to Albany, NY in the mid 1880s where the spelling changed to Clancy.  Per their marriage records John's father was Peter, Kate's Farrell. Their US death certificates list John's mother as Bridget McDermott, Kate's Delia Rogers, her father Farran. I've not been able to find anything in Irish records on John & Kate's parents.

Kiltoghert/Jamestown civil and/or parish records contain the birth in of three sons of John & Kate.  Peterborn May 16, 1880, baptized May 21.  Patrick born September 24, 1881, baptized September 25. Michael baptized August 23, 1885.  Peter’s US World War I draft registration has the same date of birth. Patrick died in 1912 in Albany, prior to WWI.  Michael’s WWI draft registration lists August 6, 1885 as his date of birth.  Five children were born in the US.  Another two unknown children were born, possibly in Ireland.

John Glancy had at least two brothers that resided in Albany NY,  Patrick, born about 1845 and Peter, born about 1866.  I found no Irish records for Patrick.  Of note, I did find birth and baptism records in County Roscommon for a Peter Glanchy, son of Peter Glanchy & Brigid McDermott.  Per Aughrim civil district records Peter was born to Peter , a farmer, and Brigid of Corballywest on February 15, 1867.  Elphin Parish records have a Peter born to Peter & Brigid of Corbally on February 9, 1867 and baptized on February 13.

PS John Glancy was a shoemaker on arrival in the US, soon with his own shop, leading me to wonder if this his trade in Ireland.
