Hi

On 18 Jan 1844 John CASEY married Bridget FEELY in Boyle Parish, Elphin Diocese, Roscommon, Ireland.

According to death certificate Bridget was born in Waterford Co, parents Peter FEELY and Catherine MALONE (p?) approx 1816.

John CASEY born in Co Roscommon approx 1816 to James CASEY and Catherine HARVEY. At least one brother Thomas.

Children - I am unsure of these as they are from LDS familysearch.org searchs. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. All the below are best I can tell baptised Boyle, Roscommon.

James Joseph - 1845 - as best I can tell he is the only one who lives

Maria - 13 Jul 1848

Patrick - 8 Mar 1850

After this they move to Edinburgh, Scotland and 2 more sons survive.

Any connectiosn to John Casey of Bridget Feely or there parents.

Cheers

Brendan

I looked at Roots Ireland  www.rootsireland.ie and did find the baptismal records in the Boyle RC parish. Actually, I worked thru the indexes to find John in 1844, Mary in 1848 and Patrick in 1850. Their parents were John and Brigid. I could not confirm that Brigid's surname was Feely.

Roots is a pay site to view the transcription of the church record. There are five other baptismal records for the period 1843-1853 born to John Casey and Brigid. Roots does not allow you to search the parish without a first name for the child. Therefore, I could not tell if the records were in the Boyle parish. It is very possible that there was another John Casey married to Brigid in that time period especially since you are aware of only three children born in Ireland to your John and Brigid.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes thanks for that. I have looked at some of those names and cannot rule them in or out.

Bridgets death cert does not specify the number of living and dead children

    Cheers

  • Probably unrelated but mentioning just in case:

    https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1872/11310/8149812.pdf

see row 11: 4 May 1872  PATRICK CASEY (22, carpenter) marries BRIDGET FEELY (20)  . These are my ancestors, they had a child (https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/089c7511958527) and travelled out to New Zealand in 1875.

I haven't been able to definitively find any birth records for either of them or their parents, as both are very common names .

Note that the "age 22" is probably incorrect; at his death in 1908 his age was given as 67, suggesting he was actually 31 , not 22. (Perhaps the truth is somewhere down the middle...)
