In Ireland this week and looking for information about my ancestors. Have traced a Martin Naddy back to this Parrish/town. Believe he left Ireland and came to the US in 1947.  I believe his parents are William and Catherine. Looking for any information that might lead me to his parents or siblings. Will be in the area this week.

Our volunteer has come back with the following response:

I have consulted the Genealogy Centre here in Strokestown.   No Naddy name appears on the system.

I presume that the inquirer intended to state that Martin Naddy went to the U.S. in 1847 rather than 1947?

I personally never heard of the Naddy surname in the Strokestown area.   Perhaps there is a misspelling somewhere.

If Martin Naddy died in the U.S., and his death registered it may be possible to obtain his parents names, including his mother's maiden name, on the Death Certificate and could then search further.

There is no child called Martin Naddy with parents William and Catherine in the Strokestown records which began in 1830.   Strokestown Parish now includes the old parish of Lissonuffy.   Parts of the old Parish of Lissonuffy also form part of the adjoining Parishes of Ballagh (Kilgefin), Tarmonbarry (Scramogue) and Fourmilehouse (Kilbride), but their records do not start until 1865.
