Patrick:
The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Elphin parish shows two likely widows in Cloonyquin: Possibly one of thw two was the mother of Matthew.

Matthew married Margaret in 1875. The civil marriage index record is below. You can get a copy of this record for around 4 euros from the General Register Office. The record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1875. If you want to get a copy let me know and I will forward instructions.

Pat:
Go to this link and print out the marriage form.
https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
Fill out the form to the best of your ability. Include the info from the index record: year, registration district and volume and page number. Make sure you ask for a copy only. You have to mail the form to the GRO office in Co. Roscommon (address provide with form) but you can ask GRO to e-mail the copy back. usually takes two weeks.
