My 2nd great Gram was Winifred Flynn-Fitzpatrick b:1836 FRENCHPARK, Co ROSCOMMON.
She married (abt 1857) Thomas Fitzpatrick b:abt 1835 -unknown where in Ireland, maybe Frenchpark, Roscommon too. **moved**
They had 9 children ALL BORN in BALLINASLOE, co GALWAY. My great grandfather (I believe was the oldest) John 12apr1858 (married Elizabeth Hawkins)
Mary Anne (John Quinn?) 4Jun1859,
James abt 1861,
Margaret 19Jun1862,
Winifred (married Ben Hawkins) 29Mar1865,
Joseph Augustin 21May1867,
Thomas b&d 15Feb1870,
Elizabeth Anne b&d 17Jul1872
Thomas Henry 29Aug1874
**moved**
After the youngest was born in 1874 and before the 1881c I find them in Manchester, England...I found John and probably Mary Anne (Quinn?) moved to United States. The rest stayed in England.
Thank you for any help,
Blessings, Suz Fitzpatrick-Amrhein

PS all this by the grace of God...Grandfather was put into an orphanage and he in turn died when my Dad was 7...had no roots ;-)

I looked at the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Tibohine civil parish which includes Frenchpark. I was looking for John Fitzpatrick and James Flynn since the oldest two sons of Thomas and Winifred were John and James. As you can see from the link below there were 3 John Fitzpatricks and three James Flynns listed. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/roscommon/tibohine.htm

Also, church records for the parish go back to 1833. You may want to contact St. Asicus church to see if they can assist.

  • Rodger Thank you VERY much for taking the time to help me on my way. Years ago my Dad went to Ballinasloe and a wonderful lady named Mary McLoughlin helped us get started, we received a printout of all Fitzpatricks in the town, at the time they were living there (Birth, marriage and death) and the only 2 children NOT on the list were John and James, so maybe they were born in Frenchpark.  I will email Kathleen now and see what I come up with.

I have also searched on Ancestry.com and sadly their Irish records are worse.

    Thanks again,

    ((hugs)) Suz

  • Rodger,

Sadly I have sent 2 nice emails to Kathleen Murray at ST. ASICUS CHURCH as you advised. And, have not received an acknowedgement or reply back. This also happened when I was advised to email a contact in Donegal regarding information on my maternal side Friels/Gallaghers/McCafferty.

It is so discouraging to not be able to get information. I pay for extended service with Ancestry.com but again Ireland records are few on there. Is there an address and/or a webpage with a list of charges so I can obtain in writing a birth/baptisimal certificate?

    Thanks and Blessings, Suz

Sorry you are having difficulties with getting a reply. Here is a link to the Co. Roscommon library system. I would e-mail either the Ballaghaderreen or Castlerea libraries to see if they can help with a contact at the church. http://www.roscommoncoco.ie/en/Services/Library/Locations/
