How can I proceed in my search for ancestors who moved to Illinois in early 1800's. Is there a contact that I can communicate with in Roscommon? Any help appreciated.

I can try to assist you although I'm USA based. Can you share more information on John and Winifred? I will also point out that very few RC parishes in Co. Roscommon have records back to the early 1800s and civil registration did not start until 1864 except for non-RC marriages which started civil registration in 1845.
