I found a baptismal record of a Bridget Conboy, parents Michael Conboy and Bridget Coony. It took place 25 July 1847 in Kilteevan. I would like to know who this Bridget Conboy eventually married to see if she could be connected to my family. "My" Bridget had siblings John, Margaret, Michael, and married a Moffit  in the mid 1860's.

  • Good Afternoon

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.

As you can see from the link below, Kilteevan is a Civil Parish in Co. Roscommon:

    http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/townlands/index.cfm?fuseaction=TownlandsInCivil&civilparishid=2064&civilparish=Kilteevan&citycounty=Roscommon

Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Roscommon and Kilteevan begin in 1837. You could search the sites suggested below for Bridget's marriage record.

There are some places where you can search online, however these websites do not have complete collections and many do not cover the period after 1900:

www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.

www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/ have begun a project to upload Irish church records to their site free of charge. However so far only Counties Dublin, Kerry, Carlow and parts of Cork have been covered.

Some other websites that may be helpful are:

The National Archives of Ireland: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/ - you can search the 1901/1911 Census on the National Archives page too

The National Library of Ireland: http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

The National Archives UK ? genealogy search:http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/

The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland: http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

    Irish Times: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/index.htm

  • Bridget's brother John Conboy married Elizabeth Glynn in Ballyfarnon in 1867. Their first two children Charles and Michael were also baptised in Ballyfarnon. One of these three records spells the name as Kilboy but since all the other names and dates look right I think it is an error.

  • Hi

The only marriage record I could find was for Bridget Conboy who had a father Michael married a Michael Simon in Williamstown, Co. Galway on 23-Feb-1889. The marriage states that she was aged 40 at the time, putting her birth year at c. 1849. A couple would generally have married in the home parish of the bride so this may not be relevant.

    Best wishes
