I am seeking any family members from my Great-grandfather John O'Hara from I believe Galway. John married Catherine Concannon from Roscommon. Possibly born around 1850s/1860s. My grandfather was Patrick O'Hara born around 1885 I believe in Galway and moved to Manchester England as a baby. Patrick married Henrietta Birtwhistle and the children born were Mary, Kathleen, Lillian and my dad Terrence O'Hara. Thank you Jacqueline O'Hara

Hi Jacqueline,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.
In the meantime, it will be much easier if you can narrow down a more definite parish of origin. You mention that Patrick was born in 1885 and his father in the 1850?s/1860?s. Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864, so you should be able to find Patrick?s birth record in Civil records and hopefully John?s also if he was born after 1864. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:

You could also try searching online for church records at:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
Remember to post any new information that you find here. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
