  • Do you know his parents names ?

Once you have these you could try searching for birth of possible siblings on the GRONI online system.

  • Hello Donna,

I found the 1911 entry for John Wright in the irish census.   He and his wife Eva seem to have been born in 1882.  They were married for 11 years so that meand that they must have married about 1900.  I searched www.rootsireland for their marriage record (because you will get their father's names from this), but I couldn't find the marriage record.

However as I examined the census record, I noticed that their first child was born in Liverpool, so I assume that their marriage record will be found there.

As soon as you have this record, it should contain father's details.

Please get back jto us when you have a parents name.  You can of course trawl through all the JOhn Wrights born about 1882, but you will need a parent's name to verify that record.

Hope this is of some help to you,

    Kind regards,

    Anne Dennehy

  • a possible match for the marriage on the Civil BMD Index was posted by Ahoghill Antrim in an earlier thread -  Belfast Jul – Sept 1899 Vol 1, Page 363. This marriage also appears on the GRONI system ref. M/1899/B1/413/5/31 Belfast 6th August 1899, name John Wright bride's surname Gamble .

You need to purchase a few credits to view the full details or view the image.

  • Donna, Please fins attached a copy of your great grandfather's wedding certificate. He was also my great grandfather. I don't believe any of his siblings are still alive. May died when I was a teenager and Eva and Louisa died in the last 20 years, I believe.

  • Hi Donna,

I have searched www.rootsireland.ie and found 3 baptismal record for a John Wright, father John Wright bap.1881.

One of the records is a civil record which will hopefully give you a good deal of imformation.

The other two records are recorded in the same parish and I have a feeling that they may be the same record just doubly recorded, but you will need to view them to be sure that the mother's name is the same on both.

They are in the parish of ST. Anne's, Shankill  COI.  Were they church of Ireland?

This site is free to join but you would have to pay about €5 to view each record.

    Hope this helps you,

    Anne
